Traveling around Europe, you will notice that most tourists prefer to rent cars. Personal transport allows you to significantly simplify travel between cities, visiting attractions and increases the comfort of any vacation. But not all tourists know how and where to rent a car in Prague, how much it will cost and what points should be paid priority attention to.

Where to book a car in Prague

So, you have decided to spend an unforgettable vacation in the Czech Republic. There is no need to even doubt that you have chosen the perfect place to spend your vacation. Prague is very popular among tourists who come to this amazing city from all over the world.

It is very important that the car rental is cheap and profitable. On the transport rented here, every tourist can easily ride not only in the Czech Republic, but also go to the cities of neighboring countries. In particular, lovers of intoxicating drink often make their tourist route through Prague, Vienna and Munich, stopping at the best beer halls in Europe.

Tourists have the opportunity to rent a car in Prague immediately after their plane lands at the airport. So, it is enough to contact one of the offices of the company, which are open every day from early morning until late at night, or make a reservation online, indicating the date and time of arrival in the city, as well as the office where you want to get the car.

What documents are needed and the conditions for renting a car

Each rental company has its own conditions on which the client can get a car for short-term use. To rent a vehicle, the client must follow several rules. In particular, each client is obliged to have a driver's license with him, which confirms the right to drive a specific type of transport, a foreign passport, a credit card.

A bank card is needed to deposit the amount of a deposit for a car in case of unforeseen situations. The deposit is frozen on the card and cannot be used until the car is returned. In case of damage to the car or other unpleasant surprises, this amount will be debited from the card as expenses. Well, if the client returns the car safe and sound, the amount will be unfrozen.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay a deposit for the car rental in cash. The card must be issued for the driver. Please note: the rental period is measured in hours, its beginning must be indicated in the contract. In addition, any driver who has reached the age of 25 can rent a vehicle. All others can count on renting on special terms and at a higher rate.

Tourists often ask if an international driver's license is required to conclude a rental agreement? Some companies are not ready to provide a car for use without this document. But if your certificate has the interpretation of the data in Latin letters, there is a chance of a positive solution to the issue. To avoid misunderstandings, we recommend that you clarify in advance the need to provide an international driver's license.

Fuel in the car

There are several options for the fuel package:

  • Full / Full - the client receives a vehicle with a full fuel tank and is obliged to fill the same amount of fuel when returning the car to the office;
  • Full / Empty - the client chooses whether to return the car with a full or empty fuel tank. At the same time, he can receive transport immediately with a full tank or pay for its cost;
  • Full / Empty B - you need to pay for the first tank of fuel, but you need to return the car to the office with an empty tank;
  • Half / Half - you are obliged to return the car with the same amount of fuel that was in the tank at the time of receiving the vehicle. Moreover, if you have just refueled, the cost of excess fuel will not be refunded to you.

Depending on your personal preferences, you can choose the most suitable option for renting a car with fuel, securing these conditions in the contract.

Additional services

When concluding a contract, do not forget to indicate the need to install additional equipment in the car or to include additional conditions in the rental conditions. In particular, the company is ready to install a European-style child seat, holders for skis, bicycles and other sports equipment, as well as a navigator that will help navigate an unfamiliar city or beyond.

The client must notify the company representative about the need for such services in advance, preferably when ordering a car. Payment for additional services is carried out separately.

Rent price

The rental price depends on its duration and the type of car. For example, driving around Prague in a mini car during the day will cost only 1900-2400 rubles (remember, gasoline is paid separately). For a modern family car, you will have to pay from 3,700 to 5,400 rubles per day. Well, for the opportunity to flaunt in a sports coupe or a premium car, customers will have to pay 14-16 thousand rubles per day of pleasure.

The company has an impressive fleet of vehicles, where you can find both budget cars and four-wheel drive SUVs, luxury convertibles and roomy minivans for a full family vacation.

Gasoline cost

It will not work to call automobile fuel cheap in the Czech Republic. For one liter of the most budgetary 91st gasoline, you will have to pay from 1,048 euros. Elite gasoline of the Natural 98 brand will cost 1.155 euros / liter, and diesel fuel is sold at gas stations at a price of 1 euro per liter.

Since almost all cars that are used in the country have been brought into compliance with Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards, the number of gas stations with cheap Natural 91 gasoline is limited.

Traffic rules and fines for their violation

Before entering the busy streets of Prague, we advise you to carefully study the traffic rules and especially pay attention to the distinguishing features of traffic rules from Russian norms. So, drivers need to comply with the speed limit (within the city you can move at a speed of up to 50 km / h, outside the city - up to 90 km / h, and on expressways it is allowed to reach speeds of up to 130 km / h).

Violation of the speed limit, depending on the degree of exceeding the permissible speed, ranges from 370 to 3700 rubles.

Remember to wear seat belts. This rule is mandatory not only for drivers, but also for their passengers. For violation, a fine of 740 rudders is provided. Pay attention to the requirements of markings and road signs, observe the order of passage of intersections and road forks.

The traffic rules in force in the Czech Republic oblige the driver to drive with the dipped headlights on (the fine for violation is 740 rubles). And when traveling with children, you need to take care of installing special child seats in the car (all children below 150 cm and weighing less than 36 kg should sit in such chairs). The fine for violation is 740 rubles. Therefore, do not forget to indicate the need for additional equipment of transport with special devices for child safety when booking and caring for the car.

Well, for travel on some roads of the Republic and on highways, you will need to pay a small fee. The right of way is given by a vignette, and for its absence, drivers will have to pay a fine ranging from 1,850 to 37,000 rubles.And this despite the fact that the vignette itself, which gives the right to travel on toll roads for ten days, costs only 115 rubles! By the way, the fine cannot be avoided even if you forgot to attach the vignette in the lower right corner of the windshield.

You shouldn't risk driving while intoxicated. In the Czech Republic, there is a strict liability for such drivers. For drunk driving, you will have to pay a fine in the amount of 925-7400 rubles with deprivation of the right to drive for a period of 6 to 12 months!

Parking in Prague

Since Prague can be classified as one of the compact but densely populated cities in Europe, it is very difficult to find parking here. For tourists who prefer to visit attractions on foot, we recommend leaving your car in paid parking lots, which can be found in areas remote from the central part of the city. It is easier and faster to get around Prague by public transport.

In addition, many parking spaces are located at the entrance to the metro or in the area of major transport interchanges. But leaving vehicles in such parking lots is risky: if you do not have time to pick it up (before parking closes), you cannot avoid a fine.

You should also pay attention to the color of the parking lot. So, the blue zone is intended for parking for local residents, the orange zone indicates the possibility of short-term parking for a period of 15 minutes to 2 hours. A green-painted parking lot indicates the possibility of leaving the car for up to 6 hours. There are also underground parking lots that do not impose any restrictions.

Each parking is paid, so do not forget to pay the amount indicated on the plate through a special machine. Otherwise, you cannot avoid a fine, which is always several times more than the cost of a parking space. For example, the average cost of parking is 7.5-18.5 rubles per hour of parking. And for violation of parking rules, the driver will need to pay a fine of 740 rubles.
