Cabaret history
The history of the cabaret began after the end of the Second World War, when the Parisian public, yearning for this holiday, was drawn to entertainment. In 1946, the enterprising Clerico brothers tried to satisfy the demands of Parisians by creating an entertainment establishment that could combine the traditions of French cabaret and the noisy fun of the restless, many-sided Broadway. The brothers' plan was a success.

Why is the cabaret called Lido
The name of the cabaret is associated with the name of the famous Venetian beach of Lido, from where, according to one version, the creators of the cabaret, Joseph and Louis, came to conquer Paris. Another version suggests that originally the Clerico brothers' cabaret was opened in a building that housed a casino and a hydropathic establishment with a swimming pool.
The interior of the building was decorated with paintings depicting the famous beach. Many of these canvases were left for the interior decoration of the cabaret. Gradually, the name of the Venetian beach migrated to the name of the created entertainment facility.
Revue system
The dizzying success of the cabaret was not so much due to the various numbers and their unique staging, but thanks to the Revue system. The Revue system, which the brothers first used in the Lido, involves working in the original format of combining entertainment and dinner. This move turned out to be quite successful. Other similar establishments began to follow the example of Lido. The best chefs prepare real masterpieces of French cuisine for the visitors of the Lido, which they can enjoy to the sound of jazz tunes before the show begins.
The second step on the road to success was the collaboration with the popular Margaret Cayley, who in 1948 brought a troupe of wonderful dancers "Bluebell Girls" to the cabaret, who managed to conquer all visitors of this institution. Perhaps thanks to the charm of the Bluebell Girls and the abilities of Margaret Cayley herself, a woman becomes the central figure of any show.

The beauty of the female body is emphasized by bright jewelry, sparkling rhinestones and lush ostrich feathers, which adorn the luxurious costumes of the Lido dancers. Normandy building
In 1977, the cabaret began to receive guests in the Normandy building, also located on the Champs Elysees. For this purpose, the columns were demolished, which were replaced by a single concrete beam 45 meters long.
Thanks to the reconstruction, it became possible to create amazing special effects right during the performance: the appearance of a waterfall and a fountain, alternating laser pictures and an ice rink, unforgettable fireworks and fantastic sounds. To create all this splendor, famous directors, designers and eminent stars of show business are attracted to the shows. Each of the masters of the creative genre considers it an honor to participate in the creation of a new show program. In addition, neither the directors nor the directors are placed within a certain framework, giving complete freedom to their work.
26 performances
Each ready-made performance is filled with humor and drama, eroticism and feelings, plasticity and acrobatics, music and play of light. All this was embodied in 26 grandiose performances that won recognition and popularity among the public. The last performance "Happiness" features 42 Bluebell Girls dancers, as well as 16 Lido Boys dancers, who change 600 fantastic costumes during the show with the help of 24 costume designers. Not only the director, but also 30 technical workers monitors the smooth operation of the actions on the stage, and 12 tailors make sure that the costumes of the show participants are in impeccable condition.
Rules
Visitors to the Lido are not required to comply with any specific rules regarding appearance and dress. But this does not mean that you can come to the show in shorts and a tracksuit. The evening in the cabaret starts at 19.00 with an exquisite dinner.
All diners are served by the chef with a glass of champagne. At 21.30. a great show begins, which may end after midnight. Visitors to the show not only watch the colorful performance, but can also dance to the fiery music during the performance.
