Spanish Soria invites to the truffle fair

One of the most unusual traditions of modern Spain is the annual truffle fair. From February 20 to February 21, in the town of Abehar, in Soria, the fourteenth fair will be held, the main product of which will be a valuable mushroom.

For the first time, a holiday named after the underground mushroom in the country was held in 2003, and since that time such an unusual tradition has arisen. Recently, thousands of tourists from all over the world come to the town to participate in the event, among whom there are many who seek to buy the rarest mushroom. Indeed, for certain varieties of truffles, real battles flare up at auctions.

The place for the fair was not chosen by chance. After all, the black truffle is the brand of the province. That is why the leadership of the region is doing everything necessary to introduce a norm on the protection of truffles in the place of their growth. At the moment, the province is considered a leader in the production of dark truffles and is known for its products far abroad. In particular, up to 30% of Spanish mushrooms are grown on the territory of Soria, and favorable conditions for this industry exist on a quarter of its entire territory.

Accordingly, you can find a valuable ingredient in almost any dish of the local restaurants. According to statistics, one in three such establishments use truffles to prepare typical Spanish dishes, as well as gourmet dishes from other cuisines of the world.

Those tourists who can visit the fair will not only learn a lot about the amazing kind of underground mushroom, but will also be able to personally appreciate their unique taste. Guests will be offered the best dishes, accompanied by selected varieties of Spanish wines.

A kind of "hit" at the annual fair was the mushroom search competition, in which experienced mushroom pickers with specially trained dogs take part.

The organizers expect that this year at least 25 farms that specialize in the production of black truffles will take part in the fair. Well, the best chefs of the province will cook for all guests and participants of the Feria de la Trufa event.
