One of the resort towns of Croatia - Sibenik - is ready to please its guests with another magnificent historical monument. The other day, the grandiose reconstruction of the Barone fortress, which dates back to the 17th century, has ended. Mayor Zeljko Buric hastened to announce this.
As a result of the reconstruction, the fort was not only restored to its original appearance, but also several additional objects were placed on its territory. Souvenir shops and an observation deck appeared, from which a beautiful view of the majestic building opens. Tourists can have a bite to eat at a local restaurant, the menu of which can satisfy the demands of demanding gourmets. There is also an amphitheater here, and young visitors can have plenty of fun on the modern playground.
In general, the fortress can be safely called a museum of high technologies, which uses augmented reality technology. The reconstruction of the historical monument, according to the mayor eljko Buric, would have been impossible without the financial support of the European Union. 1.37 million euros were spent on the work. And only the fourth part could be found in the city budget.
The mayor is convinced that the new attraction will encourage tourists to come to this part of Croatia and will return the city to its former popularity. Moreover, the local resorts can offer guests of the country excellent conditions for a good rest. The rise in popularity of the resort was noticed already last year, when Sibenik was visited by 8% more tourists than a year earlier.
By the way, the very opening of the renovated fortress was timed to coincide with the 950th anniversary of the first mention of the city in historical sources. Here is such a peculiar gift for the residents of Šibenik and all the guests of this cozy Croatian town.
