The distant sultry Brazil and its former capital Rio de Janeiro attracted the well-known, great schemer and adventurer Ostap Bender, who dreamed of flaunting the streets of Rio in white pants. Another literary hero from the play "Hello, I am your aunt" also repeatedly mentions an amazing country "where there are many wild monkeys."

What is Brazil famous for: incendiary and temperamental, gathering millions of participants, carnivals; popular varieties of the best coffee, unsurpassed masters of football, such as Pele; their singers, singers and just beauties. And how rich and diverse is the nature of the South American country, on whose territory there is also the impenetrable jungle of the Amazon, the longest river in America; and the savannahs parched by the burning sun, and the golden sands of the Atlantic beaches; a huge number of botanical gardens, nature reserves and mighty waterfalls.
Highest waterfall in Brazil
Itikira is one of the highest waterfalls in Brazil, which is a real natural treasury of the state and an attractive destination for tourists. It is located in the Itikira nature reserve near the city of Formosa, which is the administrative center of the national park. The water stream, rushing along the mountain gorge with great speed, rapidly falls down with such power that the rumble it produces is heard at a distance of 20 km. from the waterfall, and the long strip of the main stream, which is 168 meters high, is visible from afar. It is especially full of water during the rainy season, which is usually very intense in December, January and February. At this time, the smallest splashes reach even those standing 30-40 meters from the foot of the waterfall and imperceptibly make the contemplators get wet through and through, therefore it is recommended that those who go to the waterfall take waterproof jackets or raincoats and sports shoes with them. Those who wish have the opportunity to go up the steep path to see the place where the water falls. But this is within the power of physically strong and healthy people, since the ascent continues for two hours, and the descent requires considerable dexterity, dexterity and endurance, because it is difficult to breathe in high humidity.
Natural attractions
The crystal shine of transparent streams against the reddish background of a rocky cliff creates a bewitchingly beautiful sight. The abundance of moisture has a beneficial effect on the surrounding world of flora: everything around is covered with lush vegetation. Centuries-old plane trees alternate with undersized hazelnut bushes and fancifully wriggling tropical vines. The peaks of the neighboring mountains are completely covered with thickets of small-leaved and coniferous trees, reminiscent of a velvet carpet, along which a silver braid of water flows down into the cliff bowl: this view opens up to the eye if you look at this picture from a bird's eye view. In the area of the waterfall there are thirty-six mineral springs with healing qualities. Nearby is Lake Feia, which attracts fans to sit on the shore with an abundance of fish.
At the point of contact of the stream with the stream below, it "crumbles" into millions of splashes, sparkling in the sun with a diamond shine, and begins to "slide" along the rapids, forming mini-waterfalls. They are also very beautiful against the background of green openwork branches hanging from the mauve rocks - there are many who wish to admire such a landscape. As you move away from the confluence, the flow of the mountain river becomes slower and calmer, and only the rumble coming from afar reminds of the power of Itikira. Picturesque rocky shores of yellow sandstone with trees and shrubs growing on them frame the already unhurried stream of the same yellowish tint of water and create a majestic picture of the nature of the National Park of the same name.
It spreads over an area of thirty hectares and is a real oasis of wildlife a few meters from the hot concrete and asphalt of the city squares and streets of Formosa. In addition to the objects described above, the park features almost all types of vegetation characteristic of the state of Goias, whose climate is typical for the savannahs. Despite this, the vegetation of the reserve is very rich: here you can see varieties of palms: elephant, attalea, pashiuba, some of which reach a height of 60 meters. There are also rare unique cotton trees, zest, rubber-Seringeyr, cocoa tree. Wild orchids captivate with their variegated beauty, luxurious ficuses amaze with the size of their leaves. A multitude of lianas twine along the trunks and branches of plane trees and hornbeams, forming an intricate lace of patterned leaves. There are a lot of different ornamental shrubs with bright flowers, over which unusual insects hover, and outlandish lizards dart between the trunks below.
Tourist complex
Well-groomed paths run through the park, along which numerous visitors walk. Near the park there is a tourist complex where there is a camping, several restaurants offering Brazilian cuisine. In the reserve park, everything is conducive to a pleasant pastime, when you can admire the exotic nature to your heart's content, listen to the different voices of birds' singing and clicking. The bird world of the park is diverse: parrots, storks, herons, canaries feel free and happy, do not hide in the thick of the branches. Red, blue, green, gray spots of their plumage now and then flicker in the green of the lush crowns of trees.
The reserve also has its own animal world, whose representatives do not know the unkind attitude of a person towards himself, therefore they are not afraid themselves and are not aggressive towards visitors. Foxes and capybaras freely run across the path and hide in the tall grass, where the antelope family grazes. Here they strictly monitor the cleanliness, it is forbidden to drink alcohol, litter, and turn on loud music in cars. The park accepts guests who can see its sights for free every day from 8 am to 5 pm.
A journey through Brazil full of extreme and vivid impressions will be remembered for a lifetime.
